There are so many options when it comes to piping bags it can sometimes be hard to know which to choose? Depending on what you're piping I may recommend a certain piping bag. Below I've given some suggestions on each piping bag and how to use.
Each piping bag is slightly different and is used for a different use from piping buttercream to drizzling chocolate there is a piping bag for the job.
FunCakes Piping Bags
These are perfect for piping buttercream, piped biscuits like Viennese swirls, macarons, choux pastry or even mashed potato on top of a pie.
Strong and large in size means you can ice number of cupcakes before having to refill the bag. Use a piping tip to create a pattern.
Available in two sizes large 41cm or extra large 46cm.
Using a lot of piping bags? Then I would recommend the Decora Bulk Piping Bags, contains 100 piping bags and this works out the cheapest per bag price. These are just as strong as the FunCakes brand ones and can be used in the same way.
Reusable Piping Bags
These are perfect for those that are baking regularly and want to cut down on the amount of plastic piping bags they are using. These reusable piping bags from Decora have a non-slip exterior and smooth interior for ease of piping. You can add a piping tip inside to create a pattern when piping.
Tipless Piping Bags
As the name suggests these can be used without a piping tip ideal for piping royal icing or chocolate. You can use a piping tip if you want to create a piped pattern, these are lightweight but strong plastic bags. An ideal size for writing on a cake.
PME Parchment Triangles
Plastic free alternative to piping bags, these are parchment triangles which you fold together to create a piping bag. These are ideal for royal icing or chocolate, lightweight for easy piping. Perfect for adding writing to a cake.
Piping Buttercream
I'd recommend the following piping bags:
-FunCakes Piping Bag
-Decora Piping Bag
-Decora Reusable Piping Bag
Piping Royal Icing
Use either of these:
-Tipless Piping Bag
-Parchment Triangle Piping Bag
Golden Rules
whatever piping bag you choose these are my go to tips to make piping easier.
-NEVER over fill the piping bag, two-thirds full MAX!
-Tie or pop a clip on the end of the piping bag to ensure nothing spills out.
-If using a piping tip make sure most of the tip is inside the piping bag.
and finally when it comes to piping practice makes better!
