Cake & Flavour Workshop - 1st September

This workshop is a mixture of a demonstration and hands on decorating.Have you ever wanted to bake the perfect vanilla or chocolate cake or learn how to make homemade fillings for your cakes like lemon curd or chocolate ganache sauce? Then this is the workshop for you!Emma will give you all her tips and tricks on baking a basic vanilla and chocolate recipe and how to turn it into a range of flavour profiles. We will go over all the very normal things that happen when you first start baking, from cakes that dome, to cakes that sink, we'll tell you why this happens and how to stop it from happening, so you bake beautiful cakes each and every time.Emma will demonstrate how to make both a vanilla and chocolate cake and how to turn these basic recipes into lemon cake, coffee cake, strawberry cake the list goes on.A cake is just the base for all the good fillings! There will be a demonstration on how to make vanilla buttercream and some fun fillings like lemon curd, caramel, chocolate ganache sauce.And then it's over to you! We'll have a selection of small mini cakes that you'll pipe with buttercream and you can pick and choose from the selection of sauces and decorations we'll have made.What you'll learn during this workshop:-How to correctly line a cake tin.-Baking tips for a vanilla and chocolate cake.-How to take a basic recipe and change the flavour without a whole new recipe.-How to make buttercream and a selection of fillings.-To use a piping bag and how to piping with a piping tip.-Simple decorating design for cakes.You'll go home with a recipe for the following-Vanilla cake-Chocolate cakeHow to turn these basic recipes into lemon, raspberry, caramel etc the list is endless.Vanilla ButtercreamFillings:-Simple Sugar Syrup-Fruit Compote-Lemon Curd-Caramel Sauce-Chocolate Ganache SaucePlease note this is a mixture of a demonstration and hands on, cakes recipes and fillings will be demonstrate to you and you'll get your own box of mini cakes to decorate to your own taste.Come along grab a cup of tea or coffee, learn how to make a variety of cakes and fillings. You'll be able to ask questions as we go along.Tea/Coffee and light refreshments will be provided.Workshop length is 2.5 hours approx.Workshops are non-refundable, except where the class has been cancelled by Gingerbread House.This is the perfect class to take before the Buttercream Basic Class
